There are different  type of colours, different type of designs growing over there. That is just wild grass and flowers,but while  chanting “ govind hare”kirtana(devotional song) plucked them and tied them a  bhaava (divine emotions for Lord)  emerged, and a bouquet was made  out of it. Now, its looking beautiful rather than just being unwanted grass on the ground. Now its together and beautiful and full of bhaava & they can be offered to Guru or God.

Bhai dooj is a festival of mutual love and affection between brother & sister. It is also known as Yamaa dvitiya. There is one tale related to it :- Once, on the day of kartik shukla dvitiya, Yamraja reached his sister Yamuna’s(the holy river) house. Yamuna did a hearty & warm welcome of her brother. She prepared various delicious dishes for her brother and applied a tilak on his forehead. Yamraja was overwhelmed by his sisters welcome and he gifted many things to his sister. When He was leaving, He requested Yamuna to ask for a wish. Yamuna on seeing him requesting ,said: ‘Brother !  The second day of  Diwali, meaning ,the auspicious beginning of new year..Almost all Indians celebrate new year on the night of 31st Dec following the western culture but according to Hindu calendar, New year begins from the second day of Diwali. It is believed that, if the first day of new year passes happily then the whole year passes through happily & peacefully. Therefore, on the very first day of new year, one should wake early in the morning and do God’s Naam Japa while sitting on the bed so that the whole year ahead passes happily.

Narak Chaturdashi

Narak Chaturdashi’(14th day of lunar fortnight of the Hindu month of Kartika)) is also known as kali chaudas’. According to ‘Puranas’ (Hindu Scriptures), on this day, Lord Krishna killed the demon ‘Narakasura’ and made the world overcome its fear from the demons. This festival is celebrated in remembrance of their victory.

Another tale says that in ‘Vamana Avtar’( incarnation ), Lord Vishnu measured the whole universe with one foot. Lord Vamana became very happy with the sacrifice and devotion of king Bali and asked for a boon.

Bali then prayed to God that ‘If any of the citizens of my kingdom worships ‘Yamraja ‘ on the three days i.e. ‘Kartik Krishna Tryodashi, Narak chaturdashi and Dipawali, he would not get any suffering by Yama and Goddess Laxmi would never leave his house.
