Intuition(अंतर्ज्ञान) is an active inner awareness of the immortal blissful Self within. It is the eye of wisdom through which the sage senses in everything the unseen Presence. It is the Divya Chakshu (ज्ञान चक्षु ) through which the Yogi or the sage experiences the supreme vision of the all-pervading Atman or Brahman. It corresponds to the Brahmakara Vritti of the Vedantins. It is the third spiritual eye of Yogins and sages.

Instinct is present in animals and birds, intellect in human beings, intuition in adepts or Yogis or illumined sages. Pure reason or Visuddha Buddhi takes the aspirant to the door of intuition. On 8th day of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight of moon) of the month of ‘Magha’ in the Hindu calendar is known as Bhishma Ashtami.

Rituals during Bhishma Ashtami:

This day libation is done with taking kusha, sesame and water on behalf of Bhishmapitamaha. Whether our parents may not be alive; from doing this vow is beautiful and talented child receives. According to Mahabharata one who perform ‘Tarpan’ Water charities on 8th day of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight of moon) of the month of ‘Magha’, throughout his years of sin is destroyed.
